GeomaticJoker wins the Melbourne to King Island race in the prestigious IRC Handicap division.

It was a warm start for the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria fleet at 0000hrs on Friday night. At the Queenscliff start line, the winds were under 10knots and from the predicted WNW quadrant. Starting under spinnaker, GeomaticJoker established an early lead as she led the fleet out into Bass Strait finding waves of around just one metre rolling in gently from the SSW. The wind eased into the SW at 10knots providing just enough puff to push the fleet along at a respectable pace. As others faltered in the dying breeze, GeomaticJoker picked her way through tide and wind shifts to cross the line at Grassy Harbour at 5:02pm taking first place ahead of Jazz Player and Ninety Seven.
