Geomatic Technologies Names Andrew Bashfield as New Sales and Marketing Manager
9 December 2005
Melbourne, Australia – Geomatic Technologies has named a new Sales and Marketing Manager for Australia and New Zealand. Andrew Bashfield, formerly of Bentley Systems, has assumed responsibility for sales and marketing operations.
Bashfield will continue a career-long interest in the delivery of spatial information services and technology to the Government. Utilities and Transportation industries. Under his direction, Geomatic Technologies (GT) will expand its Australian sales force and promote its services into new market segments.
This new appointment reflects the strong growth of GT. Underlined by the recent opening of its Brisbane office, the company is now one of the largest geospatial consultancies in Australia. In September, Geomatic Technologies, in partnership with the Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment and Microsoft, won the spatial industry’s ‘Gold Logie’, the J.K. Barrie Award for the Highest Level of Achievement in Spatial Information at the Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards. This was presented in recognition of the innovation and wide applicability of their Victorian Spatial Smart Tag (VSST) project, a proof of concept system which delivers a vast array of existing Victorian and Australian spatial datasets, functions, and queries into the hands of non-expert users through one simple access point in Microsoft Word and Excel.
"I am pleased to welcome Andrew to Geomatic Technologies. His experience with international geospatial vendors will enable us to address the needs of a broader range of Australian businesses," commented Mr. Adrian Lewis, Director of Geomatic Technologies. "GT is already keenly focused on developing and maintaining long-term partnerships with its customers. With Andrew’s leadership and knowledge of the industries we service nationally, we are taking the benefits of our technology to the wider customer base while ensuring we continue to provide the highest level of Account Management and service."
Bashfield has held a number of challenging positions in the geospatial technology field. Prior to his appointment with Geomatic Technologies, he served five years with Bentley Systems as Geospatial Sales Director and has also worked with Intergraph Corporation, Waitakere City Council (New Zealand) and many other private and government organizations.
Bashfield will be based at Geomatic Technologies’ Australian head office in Melbourne.
