With around 80% of business data having a location attribute (such as client address lists, asset lists, inventory lists, offices and branch locations, etc) the value of spatial information is becoming increasingly important to every business, whether it has a 'spatial' focus or not.

Spatial data is complex and although it can be stored in a database like other forms of data, it must be structured properly to maximise its use to the business. This requires a different approach to solution development that can only come from years of experience with the design and build of spatial architectures.

Geomatic Technologies (GT) is a leading expert in developing and supporting modern spatial infrastructures for the enterprise. Similar to the way that SOA or Service Oriented Architecture is a recognised approach to designing general IT systems, we take an SDI or Spatial Data Infrastructure approach to the design of modern spatial systems.

At GT we believe that a good spatial data infrastructure should support the decoupling or loose coupling of business systems as this allows these systems to be more cost effective to deploy and easier to maintain.

For more information on Modern Spatial Infrastructures and how we help organisations to realise the benefits of spatial information, please contact GT at enquiry@geomatic.com.au.
